"Out of the frying pan and into the fire" is a common saying around the world, but I think it fits well for Liverpool Football Club at the moment.

Following their narrrow escape of St. James Park with all three points but even more bruises, both to their ego but also physically, the Reds reward? A key league showdown with Arsenal on Sunday.

It's not an ideal situation for Arne Slot who is still has some selection headaches he is working through as well as some form issues for several stalwarts in the starting lineup.

This is the first title contender clash of the season and both sides will want to set a marker down for the next few months.

Anfield will be rocking on Sunday when the Gunners come to town. Let's see how Liverpool could lineup for this marquee matchup.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo

POSSIBLE SUBS: Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa, Milos Kerkez, Harvey Elliott, Rio Ngumoha

Alisson is an obvious pick as always in the goal whenever he is fit to play and his top class shot-stopping will be needed against the Arsenal attack.

Defense is interesting as Liverpool have conceded four goals through two league matches from a variety of different avenues. Szobo was brilliant as a right-back against Newcastle, but could he be better used elsewhere?

Kerkez has had an indifferent start to his Reds tenure and I think this match calls for the veteran experience that Robertson offers.

Despite Konate being in such shaky form to start the season, his role is still secure. Giovanni Leoni is not ready to start a match of this level and there is no Mac Guehi, at least as of this writing.

The midfield is interesting as Macca should return after he missed out on the Newcastle win for family reasons. He slides back in alongside goal scorer Gravenberch. Together they make a fine duo to cutout several attacking moves.

Then you look at Wirtz and Szoboszlai. and on form, the latter should start, but on reputation and ceiling, it has to be Wirtz who gets the nod here.

Salah has been far from his best but he still has scored or assisted in both matches. Ekitike is red-hot right now and playing with great confidence so he is a lock and Gakpo for now still holds down the left.
