Liverpool and Chelsea are two of the biggest clubs in both England and the world as a whole. Over the years, several superstar players have donned both the famous Red and Blue at different points, but who was the best of them all?

Today, we are going to take a look back at the history of talent that has poured through both of these clubs to see which four players that played for both are the very best.

This is taking into account the top form of the player, at whichever club it was. If a player was great for both, that will only help their cause. With that in mind, let's rank the four best players to have played for both Liverpool and Chelsea.

Just Missed the List: Joe Cole, Glen Johnson, Yossi Benayoun, Raheem Sterling

4. Nicolas Anelka

The French striker did most of his damage wearing Chelsea blue, and while it hurts to say, he was a fine player for the London outfit.

He scored 59 goals to go with 27 more assists in his 184 total appearances for the club. His time with Liverpool was much more brief and quite forgettable.

He only played 22 times for the Reds but did score 5 goals with 3 assists to at least give a modest return from his brief tenure at Anfield. However, the work he did for Chelsea, while not good for us, means he earned a spot on this ranking.

Anelka won the Premier League, 2 FA Cups and a Community Shield at Stamford Bridge while also nabbing the 2008/09 Premier League Golden Boot award following a 19 goal league tally.

Objectively speaking, he's a worthy inclusion on this list.

3. Daniel Sturridge

Sturridge is one of the few players on this list to play well at different stages for both clubs. While he was still a young talent when at Chelsea, he showed flashes of the talent we would later see blossom when he moved to Liverpool.

The English attacker registered 68 goals and 20 assists from 160 matches played at Anfield. He was part of the lethal attacking trio alongside Luis Suarez and and an even younger Raheem Sterling.

He was so close to winning several pieces of silverware with Liveprool. During his nearly seven years with the club, he was part of 2 Premier League runner-ups, the 2018 Champions League final and a 2016 Europa League silver medal.

Daniel scored the Reds' only goal in that 2016 final against Sevilla. He was a member of the 2019 Champions league winning side but did not take part in the Final versus Tottenham.

He battled injuries throughout his career, but his talent was able to shine through more often than not in his time on Merseyside.

2. Fernando Torres

This one might bring up some bad memories, as it was a controversial time when the scintillating Spaniard decided he wanted to move from Anfield to London.

However, before that moment, Torres was a hero at Liverpool and his partnership with Steven Gerrard was one of the most enjoyable things to watch at Liverpool Football club at that time, and even to this day.

He was with the Reds for four years and scored 65 goals, which is still the most goals scored for the club by a Spanish player. His 14 goals during the 2008-09 Premier League season helped Liverpool finish 2nd in the table.

Following his move to Chelsea, Torres won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup. He bagged 45 more goals for the Blues but he was far less lethal in front of goal with more glaring misses popping up.

Overall, he was an elite player at Liverpool and a good one at Chelsea, so he more than earned his No. 2 spot in these rankings.

1. Mohamed Salah

Stop me if you've heard this before, Mo Salah is on top of some kind of all-time rankings. The Egyptian megastar we know and love today did not exist during his cup of coffee with the Blues.

Over two different stints, he made 32 total appearances and scored four total goals. His was a bit-part player at Chelsea and it was not until he left for Roma in Italy that he truly unlocked some of his true talent.

That of course led to his eventual journey to joining Liverpool Football Club and taking the footballing world by storm and never stopping.

Shall we run through some of his accomplishments at Anfield: 2X Premier League champion, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Community Shield, FA Cup, and 2X League Cup winner. 244 goals and 113 assists. 3X Premier League Golden Boot winner.

That's good right? During Sunday's romp over Tottenham, Salah became the highest scoring foreign born player in Premier League history. He has shattered records from the moment he arrived and all these years later shows no signs of slowing down.

He's comfortably the best player to have ever played for both Chelsea and Liverpool.
