Sunday was a great day to be a fan of Liverpool Women, and this might be just the start of a very enjoyable season for supporters. To date, Everton had bizarrely won all five WSL Merseyside derbies played at Anfield, the Toffees scoring 11 goals and conceding only once in the shadows of the Shankly Gates.
However, the Reds managed to flip that script, beating their cross city rivals 2-0, to claim only their second-ever WSL win at Anfield, against any opponent, this their tenth match at the stadium.
Understandably, manager Gareth Taylor was delighted post-game, having watched his side dominate from start to finish. The comprehensive nature of the victory certainly not reflected by the scoreline. Speaking to the assembled journalists in the mixed zone shortly after full time, the manager was full of praise for Beata Olsson, who broke the deadlock early on.
"It's nice for Beata to get a goal because I know she's so hungry for goals and it effects here a lot! I was a striker and I know how she feels. She gives so much more in her game, but brilliant for her to get one at Anfield, that will give her a lot of confidence going into the next few games. "
Olsson's header, connecting with Natalia Ramos' corner, was the fastest goal in women's Merseyside derby history, timed at three minutes and 30 seconds. That was the 25 year old's first goal of the campaign, but she did net 11 times last season, including six in the WSL, which is not a tally to be scoffed at, considering Liverpool finished second-bottom.
Andoni Iraola enjoys Liverpool's 2-0 WSL win over Everton
Off the pitch, the main talking point from Sunday's win was the fact that new men's team head coach Andoni Iraola was in attendance, watching the women's team for the first time.

When asked what it was like meeting Andoni for the first time, Taylor had this to say:
"Yes really nice. Lovely guy. I met his wife and two children.. we spoke about a few things, It was really nice to make a connection. I think him coming here today to support us, as did Julian Ward, I noticed up in the stands. We give congratulations for his new role. It's really nice, it shows that the club is really connected. "
Sat alongside his family, Iraola also enjoyed the match next to, as Taylor mentions, newly-appointed sporting director Julian Ward. Certainly compared to other huge Premier League clubs, Liverpool fans have felt as though their women's team have been under-funded and de-prioritised in the past. Well, the presence of Iraola and in particular Ward suggests this could change.
