Our attention has thus largely been diverted from what the Reds will be doing on the pitch, as they face the Rossoneri in Hong Kong on Saturday.

After visiting South Asia, the Reds will head north to face Yokohama in Japan.

Here are three things to watch for in Liverpool’s pre-season game against seven-time European champions AC Milan.

Hugo Ekitike’s debut?

Liverpool’s newest signing, French forward Hugo Ekitike, flew out to meet the rest of the team earlier in the week after joining from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 23-year-old will be a great addition to Liverpool’s attack, but whether or not he will feature remains to be seen.

Flying straight out to Hong Kong after signing, is a positive sign in terms of the likelihood of his involvement in Saturday’s game.

Ekitike seems to already be bonding with his teammates, as the official Liverpool FC account has already posted videos of him interacting with compatriot Ibrahima Konate.

It remains to be seen who Arne Slot will choose at the striker position on Saturday, given Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are both heavily linked away.

Slot might be cautious of balancing minutes, given Ekitike will need to be integrated into Liverpool’s system, and putting minutes into Nunez’s and Diaz’s legs, just in case they stay.

Liverpool’s left-back dilemma

Arne Slot currently has a headache at the left-back position, with three players now vying for the shirt.

Despite being linked with a move away earlier in the window, Andy Roberston remains a Liverpool player, and an important voice in the changing room.

Kostas Tsimikas currently looks as though he will continue to be a Liverpool player on the first day of the season.

Milos Kerkez, is Liverpool’s shiny new option at left-back, and will be the future of the position.

Slot balanced the minutes of the players in Liverpool’s prior friendly against Preston North End, with Tsimikas getting the first-half, and Robertson and Kerkez both featuring in the second.

With the Reds getting a little closer to being ready for the start of the Premier League season, it will be interesting to see how Slot balances the minutes.

The Reds' young guns

A few young players have travelled with the senior team on the Asia tour.

Armin Pecsi, Rio Ngumoha, Kornel Misciur, Tyler Morton, Luca Stephenson, and Trey Nyoni are all in the mix for the friendly against AC Milan.

It is perhaps more likely that more of the youngsters feature in the game against Yokohama midweek.

Midfielder Nyoni, winger Ngumoha, and utility player Stephenson all featured in the Reds’ first friendly against Preston North End, and thus could feature against AC Milan, as Slot arguably sees them as closer to being first team ready.

This could be a big season for Ngumoha, in particular, who has been touted as potentially Liverpool’s sixth-choice attacker this season.

Tyler Morton is continually linked with a move away, and Pecsi and Misciur are two young goalkeepers, the former signed this summer with an eye on his potential.
