Jurgen Kloop’s Reds are taking a break from the cold weather at Melwood and are traveling to La Manga, Spain for warm weather training this Wednesday.

This will not be a ‘cake walk’ training, Klopp has planned for his squad to take a break, yes, but then return to business with a number of three-a-day workouts. Klopp has in mind to prepare his side for a strong run in the Premier League, hopefully a top four finish.

“Pre-Season”

Klopp said, “Now we are in pre-season, we will use this and we will go again and again and again.” His intentions are clear, he does not plan to let up because this season will not allow it. Liverpool finish the season with marquee match-ups against Arsenal, Manchester City,  Everton, and Southampton.

Previously, Liverpool have benefited from a mid-season break with warm weather training. Allowing them to relax and focus on some of the bigger issues that have plagued them during the season. Klopp knows there is work to be done but he also wants he team to be a united again, not just individuals kicking a ball around.

The results will hopefully be more match results like the most recent on against Tottenham. Which fans saw Liverpool return to their quick-paced, dominant side that they know and love under Klopp.

Issues To Be Addressed

There are a number of issues that Klopp will look to address during his time in La Manga.

1. Defense remains one of those issues. Mainly, defending the counter attack with wise decision-making. The panic reactions of the back-line must not continue! It is a surety that if Klopp and the Reds want to finish strong they must tend to this issue.

2. Another issue is creativity in the midfield, something that the Reds struggled with when Sadio Mane was absent due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Being creative and keeping up the pace is something that takes time and chemistry. Liverpool fans saw a glimpse of this return on Saturday against Tottenham.

Building team chemistry again is something that Klopp is good at doing and will look to focus on that issue this week in Spain. At least, we all hope so.

3. Next, a number of players look weak or unfocused: Can, Sturridge, Origi, and even Henderson a few times. Boosting these guys confidence will most assuredly need to be addressed. Klopp cares about his players deeply, this is linked to his players on field success.

In conclusion, Liverpool may have just managed one win so far this year but there is a bright future ahead and it begins in La Manga, Spain. Look for a focused and re-energized side come Matchday 26 against Leicester City.
