No.1: Anfield Memories

Most of the Spurs players could be forgiven from suffering some PTSD symptoms when they step into Anfield on Sunday. The last time they visited they got destroyed. The score line was an underwhelming 2-0 but that hides the reality.

More from Liverpool FC News

Liverpool tore open Tottenham just under a year ago. Sadio Mane scored two goals in 2 minutes in a blistering first half display. It should have been 5-0 at half time. While the score remained modest the hearts and minds of Mauricio Pochettino’s side were crushed.

Liverpool had a defense that day of Nathaniel Clyne, Lucas Leiva, Joel Matip and James Milner. They were happy to sit in the second half and play out and easy victory. Often we get frustrated if the team doesn’t ‘go for the jugular’. However this was an example of a Liverpool side in total control of one of their rivals.

This game is huge. A Liverpool victory goes a huge way to assuring Champions League qualification. With only two more games against the ‘big six’ after this one we can be sure that other sides will drop points to each other. A five point gap with 12 games to go will be a nice cushion ahead of the UCL knock out games.
