Liverpool scouts will be watching one of the Reds’ chief targets tonight in Adrien Rabiot as PSG head to Anfield in the Champions League.

Almost every eye in Anfield will be keenly watching the performances of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side. However there will be a handful of scouts who will be taking extensive notes on one Paris Saint Germain player; Adrien Rabiot.

The French international has been heavily linked to a summer move to Merseyside after he indicated he would not be signing a new contract at PSG. His current deal runs out in June 2019 and Michael Edwards and his team could make a swoop for Rabiot on a free transfer.

He is predicted to start tonight in the Champions League group stage opener at Anfield. It will be fascinating to see how the classy midfielder handles the lights and pressure of a European night in front of the Kop.

Tonight will be a special moment for Rabiot who made it clear during Liverpool’s Champions League run last season his love for Anfield. He posted an Instagram story declaring his love for the European occasion at the ground.

Many fans are hyped at the prospect of Rabiot playing in Red next season. He is a different kind of player to the current midfield options. He is known for his silky passing, vision and close control. That would offer Klopp some qualities that were lost when Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona on a transfer earlier this year.

Liverpool have not had an elite passer in deep areas since Xabi Alonso left the club in 2009. Steven Gerrard briefly played there under Brendan Rodgers in 2014 but we have not had a class pass-master regularly at the base of the midfield since the mercurial Spaniard.
