Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has been speaking before the Premier League game on Friday and fans are loving what he said!

Wijnaldum has been a vital part of the Reds team this season and appears to be thriving under Jurgen Klopp. Klopp seems to really trust the Netherlands international, who has played 16 games in the league this campaign.

The 28-year-old was talking about the amazing strength in depth that Liverpool have in midfield and the positive pressure that provides.

When the former Newcastle United man arrived from the Toon after the 2015/2016 season, he did so as a more attacking midfielder. Wijnaldum scored 11 goals and created five others as the Magpies were relegated, but Klopp has since tinkered with his Liverpool role.

Now Gini does less going forward but more overall. Klopp has got the Dutchman operating in the number six style and he’s quietly having an excellent campaign. Despite all those goals, that deep-lying position is actually his favourite and that’s why he’s doing so well.

You’d expect Wijnaldum to start against Wolves on Friday night – but with a number of quality players fighting for game time you can never be sure.

If Klopp decided to stick with his 4-3-3 then you’d definitely imagine the baby faced assassin would feature, especially if James Milner is deployed at right-back.

In a 4-2-3-1, however, the manager may decided to go with any number of options and Jordan Henderson could get a run out. But as Wijnaldum mentioned, whoever starts for Liverpool will have to keep his performance levels high in order to remain in the side for the visit of Newcastle on Boxing Day.
