Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola can’t stop complimenting Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp and he’s done it again at the Football Writers’ Association awards dinner.

Guardiola and Klopp were asked to give speeches at the FWA awards dinner and the City boss was full of cheeky praise for the gaffer.

Jurgen went first and the charismatic German was always going to be a hard act to follow for Pep, who is harder to warm to than our boss.

And to be fair to the Spaniard, he recognised that and immediately complimented Klopp on his smile and his Champions League trophy and even offered to pay for dinner at the end of it all!

Guardiola also offered to swap the European crown for the Premier League title but the way things are going right now Liverpool could end up with both at the end of the season.

Klopp and Pep seem to have a curious relationship that’s based on mutual respect. There isn’t as much needle as there has been between title chasing managers, historically, and there’s definitely none of the aggro that we experienced as Arsene Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho all went head-to-head.

Although Liverpool are still able to get under the Spaniard’s skin. We wrote how Joe Gomez was living in Guardiola’s head after clubs got their players back from the international break and the City boss can’t escape the Reds.

After beating Crystal Palace 2-1, the club are still eight points above Leicester City in second while City are level with the Foxes in third.

Both sides are still in the Champions League and will go through to the last 16. The Mancs don’t have an excellent record in Europe while Liverpool have reached the final two years in a row.

After losing just one game last season and dropping just two points for 2019/2020, it’s not a surprise that Pep Guardiola can’t stop complimenting Jurgen Klopp.
