Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah scored a wonderful goal last night against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League but some rival fans are not impressed!

Social media was buzzing last night after Mohamed Salah scored the second Liverpool goal of the evening against Salzburg to send the Reds through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, not everyone was praising the Egyptian forward.

Liverpool fans and pundits were celebrating the goal from the most acute angles. A long ball forward was headed wide by the covering defender, seemingly giving Salah no chance of scoring. But the keeper had left his goal mouth and gave the forward the slimmest of chances.

Salah had been missing easier chances all night so many were delighted when he tucked away the goal with a spinning shot on his weaker foot.

The goal has been drawing plaudits from around the world of football. But some rival fans are not having.

Obviously much of this is just rival fans hating on Liverpool because it is, well, Liverpool. In their eyes we aren’t really that good, Jurgen Klopp is a fraud and we are soaring because of luck, VAR and an international conspiracy of referees and football media. Lol.

Others are remembering the goal a year ago that won Mohamed Salah the Puskas Award for the best goal of 2018. It was the stunner he scored against Everton that many fans felt should not have been the winner.

We actually agreed with them as we listed either his goal against Tottenham Hotspur or the one against Roma as being superior. But that one got the Everton fans fuming so I’m happy to let it be.

While I loved last night’s goal, the reason it was most impressive is that it was on his weaker right foot. I actually prefer his assist for Naby Keita against Bournemouth on Saturday and I think that goal is better overall!
