Jordan Henderson

In a team packed full of boys who are lining up to be named player of the year, Henderson is surging to the front of the pack. This is a midfielder who is often underrated and underappreciated but he’s the ticking heart of the team and so much of what is good flows through his Mackam body.

Hendo also shows up in unexpected times with goals and assists to prove that he’s got much more to his game than just running and shouting – even if those are important roles that the skipper carries out.

He played every single minute of every single league game in January and was instrumental in delivering the win against West Ham as the 29-year-old picked up a goal and an assist. Henderson makes, on average, one key pass per game but also two tackles and interceptions. In short, the man does it all.

That performance against the Hammers was the follow up to another vital 90 minutes during the 2-0 win against Manchester United in which he controlled the midfield and was one of the best players on the park.

The movement to recognize the man for the talent he is has picked up pace. Those games in January are a large part of the reason why.
