There is hope for Liverpool forward Divock Origi as the pursuit of a possible replacement has been cancelled.
The Belgian has been relegated to the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and has found it difficult to make an impact when he’s been brought in to the side.
After scoring against Everton at the end of 2019, Divock Origi has struggled for goals and minutes. He looks like the type of player who’ll be shown the door in the summer.
All of that is sad, considering the man was awarded with a new, five-year deal at the end of last season because of the impact he was able to make.
There were plenty of people who were annoyed at that move, and Liverpool hunting around for attacking reinforcements seemed to send the message that Origi’s time at Anfield was coming to a close.
But could things be looking up for the Belgian? The Express has reported that Liverpool no longer want to sign Norwich City starlet Todd Cantwell because they believe the £30 million asking price is too high.

That’s great news for Origi, but the forward shouldn’t allow himself to become complacent as we know there’s some interest in the pipeline for RB Leipzig goal machine Timo Werner. If the struggles (relative) this season have shown us anything, it’s that Liverpool need better options up front.
Beyond the regular three, the drop off in quality is pronounced and that’s why it looks like Klopp is getting ready to shuffle his deck. He started with the signing of Takumi Minamino, and it appears as if Xherdan Shaqiri‘s time at Anfield is done.
Origi needs to work hard to ensure his career doesn’t go the same way.
As for Cantwell, perhaps all this news is just a double bluff. But £30 million does seem like a lot of money to spend on someone with just one Premier League campaign under their belt.
