Liverpool 4-0 Palace player ratings: Mohamed Salah completes football
Defense
Trent Alexander-Arnold was much better on Wednesday. His delivery was much improved from Sunday, as was his ability from set-pieces. He stepped up and gave Liverpool the lead after 25 minutes thanks to his impeccable free-kick, and that just started it all off really.
Won by free-kick that lead to the goal by being a massive unit, didn’t let much get passed him and engaged in a running battle with Jordan Ayew.
Had one sloppy moment in the first half, when he gave the ball away to Max Meyer, but nothing came of it. It’s hard to really score the defence given the lack of attacking threat Palace provided – but they did whatever was asked of them and you can only really score from that.
Like Saha, Robertson instantly made a difference as he provided width and forward movement down the left. His understanding with Sadio Mane makes a huge difference and he was found doing his best work in Palace’s final third, rather than his own.
That was to be expected thanks to the limit threat the Eagles posed, and Robertson did whatever was asked of him.
