Jurgen Klopp gives huge injury update before Palace clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given a huge injury update.
Klopp claimed that both Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson could be fit to play against Crystal Palace tonight.
The Reds were without the duo in the Merseyside Derby a few days back which ended in a dull goalless draw. While Salah was on the bench, Robertson didn’t even make the match day squad.
Instead, Takumi Minamino and James Milner started with the latter being replaced by Joe Gomez as he had to leave the pitch with a hamstring injury.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s fixture at Anfield, Klopp said that both players trained normally yesterday and could be fit for the match.
"The German told Liverpool’s official website: “[Mo] trained yesterday completely normal, he will train today completely normal I would guess and then he is available.“What I make with the line-up, you have to wait until tomorrow. It is the same with Robbo. He trained yesterday completely normal as well, so it’s the same.”More from Rush The KopSet to return, Virgil Van Dijk facing heavy criticism back homeLiverpool making late comebacks all the rage once againWolves tilt gives Klopp opportunity to tinker with lineup following international dutyPlayers to watch in the matchup with WolvesPredicting Liverpool’s Next Five Premier League Fixtures"
After playing out a goalless draw against Everton at Goodison Park for the third season running, Liverpool will be eager to register a win against Crystal Palace and the return of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson would surely be a massive boost for the team.
If the former is back in the starting XI, then Minamino will surely take his rightful place on the bench while the Scottish international’s return could see Joe Gomez join Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defense.
Palace will be entering the game at the back of a 2-0 win against Bournemouth at Dean Court and given that they are just four points behind 5th-placed Manchester United, the Eagles will try to get something out of tonight’s game.
With the previous meeting between both sides at Anfield ending in a narrow 4-3 win for Liverpool, they shouldn’t take Roy Hodgson’s side lightly.
Victory will take them within a result of winning the Premier League, which could be wrapped up against Manchester City at the Etihad. How sweet would that be?
