Liverpool star Diogo Jota ‘should be back’ soon.
The former Wolves ace has been missing from action since he picked up an injury against FC Midtjylland in a pointless Champions League match.
Liverpool have missed the Portugal international badly. When he was in the side and pushing Roberto Firmino for his place, we saw the best from the Brazilian.
Since Jota has been out, the Reds have found it difficult to develop some forward momentum. They haven’t even scored since the end of December.
Liverpool could welcome Diogo Jota back
However, those days could be behind us soon. The Athletic’s James Pearce reported that the forward ‘should be back’ by February, as per Football Transfer Tavern.
Jota has nine goals in 17 games and quickly won over supporters and proved that the deal to bring him from Wolves was a good one.
He’s missed the last eight games, and we’ve struggled during almost all of those fixtures. While Liverpool did manage to beat Crystal Palace 7-0 and put two past Tottenham, there were also really disappointing results against Fulham, Newcastle, West Brom and Southampton.
Injuries have shaped this season like no other. Klopp fielded Fabinho and Jordan Henderson as centre-backs against Manchester United, which impacts how the team can play further up the field.
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are struggling
Xherdan Shaqiri did get a rare start in midfield, while Takumi Minamino seems to have been forgotten about. Liverpool play again this weekend as they take on Burnley, who have been poor but are historically strong at the back.
While our struggles going forward, this fixture will be an interesting one to observe. Can Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah dust off their boots and put one int he back of the net, or will the return of Jota seem more important than ever?
