This afternoon, Liverpool FC takes on Leicester City in the team’s first Premier League match since last month’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Despite the nearly month-long break in England’s top competition, much has changed in advance of today’s clash against the Foxes. Specifically, the team’s starting XI has the potential to be a sight indeed to behold for Kopites.
Liverpool may field their most potent and deepest team all season against Leicester City.
With the incredible return of Harvey Elliott and Thiago in the team’s recent FA Cup fixture, the Reds are gaining even more players back from AFCON, COVID-19, and injuries. Today, there is a strong possibility that Mohamed Salah starts for the club after a heartbreaking defeat in the AFCON Final against counterpart Sadio Mane, who is still unavailable. Furthermore, with the addition of Luis Diaz, some are hoping the team’s starting XI looks something below:

One could argue a few changes, but with Jordan Henderson probably out due to a back injury, it opens up a realm of possibilities at the midfield. Above all, the club’s overall depth is displayed when this was not the case in the last outing against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
It would be hard to believe for the Reds not to gain three points against the Foxes today.
Like LFC last month, Leicester City is dealing with depth issues before today’s match. One of their significant losses will be Jamie Vardy, who has plagued Jürgen Klopp’s side in years. However, with a home match at Anfield and seeing the club in relatively good form, it would be hard to believe that there will be a repeat affair of December’s 1-0 loss.
Now is the time for Liverpool to make a run at the title. With most of the significant contributors back, expect a positive outing from the club today against Leicester City.
Miscellaneous news and notes:
- Today is midfielder Naby Keita’s 27th birthday!
- An appearance tonight for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold would be his 150th EPL appearance.
- Roberto Firmino has scored the most goals (6) against Leicester City than any other Red in 13 appearances.
- Mo Salah has a chance to hit a critical milestone today as well.
