There will be plenty of current Liverpool players at the World Cup this summer. The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson have all been confirmed in their country's rosters for the tournament. However, there will also be some ex-Reds at the World Cup, with three already confirmed.
Jordan Henderson
Liverpool fans gave Jordan Henderson a great reception when he was in action for Brentford against the Reds on the final day of the Premier League season. This was well deserved as he was a key part of Liverpool's first Premier League victory; he also won the Champions League with the Reds and made close to 500 appearances for the club.
Despite leaving Anfield in 2023, Henderson is still in the England squad. He initially had a spell out of the Three Lions' roster when he was with Al-Ettifaq. However, since he has returned to European soccer with Ajax and now Brentford, he has earned his place back in his country's squad.
Henderson is now 35 and not the same player he was when he was in his prime at Liverpool. However, he is a leader, and even captained England in a recent friendly against Uruguay. The midfielder made his Three Lions debut back in 2010, so he has a wealth of international experience with 89 caps thus far.
Jarell Quansah
Jarell Quansah only made 30 Premier League appearances for Liverpool. However, he does have a winner's medal for being a part of the side that won the division in Arne Slot's first season at the club.
In search of regular game time, Quansah moved to the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. This is a smart move as German clubs have helped develop many talented young English players. This season, Quansah made 28 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 4 goals as a center-back.
He helped Leverkusen finish sixth in the German league and starred for them in the Champions League. They reached the last 16 of European soccer's premier competition before losing to Arsenal.
Quansah made his England debut last year in a World Cup qualifying victory over Albania. He will not be expected to start for Thomas Tuchel's side at the World Cup, but will be a very good squad player.
Fabinho
Just like Henderson, Fabinho moved from Liverpool to the Saudi Pro League in 2023. However, the Brazilian has stuck it out in the division with Al-Ittihad. He has won the division there and managed to keep his place in the Brazil squad.
Fabinho is now 32, but surprisingly has only made 31 appearances for Brazil. However, he has competed against the likes of Casemiro for a starting spot. Carlo Ancelotti's midfield is quite strong, as along with Fabinho and Casemiro, he also has Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes at his disposal.
There will always be expectations for Brazil to compete at the tournament as they are five-time winners. However, they finished as low as fifth in South America's World Cup qualifiers. They have even had to bring a 34-year-old Neymar back into the fold.
