Arne Slot just dropped a major Federico Chiesa hint (but there's a twist)

Federico Chiesa is the forgotten Liverpool player. However, Arne Slot hasn't forgotten about him and even name-dropped him recently.

Heading into next season, Liverpool's squad is not looking as strong as many would have thought, given their spending. Sure, Liverpool has upgraded a fair few positions, but they've also lost more players than they've signed.

Recently, it became clear that Liverpool would aim to bring in more attacking options before the summer transfer window comes to a close. This is necessary, from fans' perspectives.

However, what does it mean for Federico Chiesa? At the end of the day, he's still an employed Liverpool player.

Arne Slot name-drops Federico Chiesa

Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus in 2024 and since then, the Italian has registered just six Premier League appearances. Five out of the six came from the bench, we must add.

With just 104 Premier League minutes under his belt, it's hard to argue any case for Chiesa being in Slot's plans. Fitness didn't help Chiesa last season but, let's face it, when he did play, he hardly set the world alight.

However, Arne Slot isn't completely ignoring Chiesa. In fact, the Dutch coach recently name-dropped Chiesa when speaking about Liverpool's attacking options.

In his own words, Slot said: "I think we have a lot of attacking power in our team. When I think about Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike, Mo Salah, Jeremie Frimpong who can play as a right-winger, Florian Wirtz who can play as a left-winger - I already feel I have a lot of attacking options in my current squad."

Liverpool's business means fearwell Chiesa

Despite Slot being happy with the current options in the attacking ranks, fans should not rule out more players being added there.

Slot even added, as a cliffhanger: "But, as always as a club, we are always looking at the chances in the market but that can also be in the midfield or the last line."

So, no name-drops for who's on Liverpool's attacking shortlist. However, it doesn't take a genius to know that Liverpool wants to sign Alexander Isak.

The Swiss forward has been the talk of the town lately, and if Liverpool has the opportunity to add him, then they have no excuses not to. He'd be an immediate upgrade on Liverpool's center forward options, and especially important now that Darwin is leaving.

Look, Slot had to name Chiesa. He's still employed by Liverpool and he's believed to be a good guy behind the scenes, so it would be disrespectful if Slot didn't mention Chiesa.

Despite the name-drop, it's unlikely that Chiesa is in Slot's long-term plans.
