Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish wants a new contract or a conclusion for Marc Guehi, who is wanted by Liverpool.

Yesterday, Liverpool lost out in the most heartbreaking manner to Crystal Palace. While Liverpool fans can hold their hands in the air and say 'fair enough, the better team won,' nobody can deny that it was a missed opportunity for the Reds.

Losing via a penalty shootout is never easy. It was a gruelling watch, from the moment Mohamed Salah blasted his penalty over the bar... Anyone but him, was the feeling.

However, underneath the heartbreaking story was an underlying angle - A sign of what might be to come for Marc Guehi. He's won two trophies over the last few months, but one can't help feeling like more is in order at Liverpool.

And Marc Guehi is in a sticky situation right now. His contract expires at the end of the season, which means it's decision time for both him and Crystal Palace.

Steve Parish just said "Liverpool, come get Marc Guehi"

Steve Paris, chairman of Crystal Palace, was not shy to answer questions about this looming contract situation, which might impact his club. Like any fan would want, he answered the question open and transparently.

When asked whether Crystal Palace would sell Marc Guehi at the right price, Parish said: "Yes. Of course, for players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem. It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind."

This should be music to Liverpool's ears. And indeed, journalist Lewis Steele confirmed, it is. The Reds remain interested in signing Marc Guehi, but they don't want to overpay for a player who is soon to be out of contract.

In many ways, this is a win-win for Liverpool. They could either sign Marc Guehi on a cheap deal, or wait until the end of the season when he's available without a transfer fee.

This happened TO Liverpool, when Real Madrid deployed their usual tactics to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold. Understandably, fans complained then, but they won't be complaining if the same method works in their favor this time around.

In the meantime, Liverpool will be monitoring closely what happens with Guehi. They have a strong backline and their priority should be more attacking options this window, but market opportunities like this don't come around twice.
