Welcome to the week of news in the Liverpool world. We will be bringing these findings to you every Friday to roundup the busy news of LFC especially with a huge summer transfer window on the horizon.
A big week for the manager and the immediate future of the club as his press conference answered the biggest question.
Slot backed by FSG
In his press conference for Fridays game against Aston Villa, Slot calmly dropped a huge bombshell for his future at the club. “Talks ongoing between the club and new players and I am involved in that.”
Such a big moment for him and the LFC fans, as many have been calling for his sack, some have wanted to give him time, and it seems as though FSG, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, have listened to what I think could be the minority and plan to go forward with the Dutch manager.
Throughout the past two weeks we have heard this claim to be the case as many trusted and influential journalists have been releasing the news that he is still backed by the club's board and will look to set him up to succeed in his third season at the helm at Anfield.
It was the words of Paul Joyce that finally had many firmly believe that Slot will be the manager heading into the new season in August. The revered and respected journalist is often the man to have the truth surrounding Liverpool and this looks to have been the case once again.
Two Wingers Named as Targets
We go back to Paul Joyce as he announced that as expected LFC will look to “Prioritise the signing of wingers to improve performances,” which seems like a very naïve way to look at this season's shortcomings.
Club legend Mo Salah will be leaving at the end of the season and with Hugo Ekitike out injured, Cody Gakpo has the versatility to fill in while the Frenchman recovers, two new wingers would not be out of the question for Slot and the “improvements” he’s looking for.

The two names Joyce did drop are the two many Reds fans will have been watching in recent times, Bradley Barcola of PSG and Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.
Both players wouldn’t be the like for like replacement of Salah and could even be options for the left wing, but these are the profile of players that will excite fans.
Wingers who want to take on their man, goalscoring and fast, something this team has missed for large parts of the season. An interesting subplot to this window is the thought that LFC will not be spending as much as last summer, but in some eyes, will be needing more players through the door.
Konate Heading for the Exit
Ibrahima Konate joined the club in 2021 and has been an exceptional signing for the Reds, complimented massively by his partner and skipper, Virgil van Dijk, the duo have combined to create a formidable partnership.
However, the Frenchman has had a tough season both on and off the field after poor performances and losing his father late last year.
In what was always going to be a major talking point of this season, especially when you think back to the way Trent left, Konate’s contract situation has not strayed from the thought of many fans, and up until this week, many thought that it was a foregone conclusion that the centre back would be signing a new contract at Anfield.
Just this week these beliefs were firmly put into doubt as Ian Doyle, chief LFC writer for the ECHO, stated that an agreement on a new contract “hasn’t been as close as the player intimated.”
This will haunt a few fans with the thought of TAA, and the sour way that ended. It will make it even more difficult for Liverpool as Konate will be with his national team at this year’s World Cup in North America, with time running out to reach agreement.
That’s all the major news for this week, check back in next Friday for the ‘Findings’ that come out in this whirlwind eco-systemn around Liverpool Football Club.
