Liverpool's No. 19 has had a mini-resurgence in recent days and it has given him the platform to express his desires to stay at Anfield.

After a 2-1 victory over French side, Lille, Liverpool continued their dominance in the league stage of the Champions League, securing their spot in the Round of 16.

Coming off the bench in the second half, Harvey Elliott stepped up to deliver in a crucial moment. The 21-year old English midfielder netted his first Champions League goal of the season in the 67th minute.

His deflected strike, a result of quick thinking and positioning outside the box, proved pivotal in the Reds’ success.

Elliott smiled while he enjoyed the standing ovation from The Kop, celebrating his long-awaiting goal in the Champions League since 2022.

It was a moment of redemption for the Englishman, who has faced challenges this season, including limited playing time and swirling transfer rumors. Yet, Elliott’s message was clear both on and off the pitch: he remains loyal to Liverpool.

I think it’s pretty clear to be honest, I’m not leaving,” Elliott affirmed in his post-match interview.

Elliott is as Determined as ever

This season has been a test of resilience for Elliott. A broken foot sidelined him for over two months earlier in the campaign, and since his return in November, his starts have been limited primarily to domestic cup competitions under new manager Arne Slot.

Despite these setbacks, Elliott has consistently demonstrated his value when called upon.

Against Brentford last week, Elliott provided a crucial stoppage-time assist for Darwin Nunez, helping Liverpool secure a vital win. Against Lille on Tuesday, his decisive strike in a tight contest exemplified his ability to impact games from the bench.

Kostas Tsimikas' corner-kick set the stage for Elliott’s moment of brilliance, as he positioned himself outside the box to capitalize on a deflection.

His well-struck shot left Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier helpless, sealing the victory and reinforcing Elliott’s importance to the squad.

"I'm happy for him, I'm always there to help him," Salah, who scored the first goal, said of Elliott’s match-winner. "He's a great lad and always tries to give his best – sometimes (he plays) five minutes, today he had 45 minutes. He was great, so I'm happy for him."

Loyalty to Liverpool

Elliott’s resurgence comes against the backdrop of transfer rumors linking him to clubs like Brighton & Hove Albion and Borussia Dortmund.

Speculation about his future has arisen due to his reduced playing time under Slot’s management.

Liverpool, however, remains firm in their stance: Elliott is not for sale. The club has reportedly rejected all approaches for the young midfielder, emphasizing their commitment to his development and role within the team.

Elliott, for his part, has consistently dismissed any notion of leaving Anfield.

This is my club and I’ll fight for my place,” Elliott said after Liverpool won Brentford last week. Despite facing stiff competition for minutes in a crowded midfield, Elliott has embraced the challenge, working to earn the trust of his manager while continuing to contribute whenever called upon.

“I was out with an injury at the start of the season. I don’t expect to come in and play straight away. I want to help my team out as much as I can. Help the club out. Do everything I can.” he said.

Elliott’s determination to succeed at Liverpool, combined with his recent impactful performances, demonstrates his unwavering commitment to the club he grew up supporting.

His loyalty, resilience, and growing influence provide a compelling narrative as Liverpool continues its pursuit of glory this season.
