There is little doubt that Caoimhin Kelleher is the best No. 2 goalkeeper in England and possibly one of the best in all of Europe. However, playing on the same side as Alisson Becker has meant he's found opportunities few and far between.
Having said that, when he has gotten chances, like this season when the Brazilian was injured, or in several cup runs, he's more than proved his worth.
There is no question he could be the No. 1 for countless clubs and it felt almost like a matter of time that he would decide he wanted more. That time appears to have come.
The Exit finally arrives
On Sunday, reports confirmed that Liverpool would be selling Kelleher to Premier League side Brentford in a deal that could rise to around £18-20 million with add-ons.
For the player, it's a tremendous move as he will get to be the undisputed top keeper at a club that plays competitive football in the league and his arrival should only strengthen their position.
The Bees conceded 57 goals in the Premier League this season, which was 16 more than what Liverpool allowed. The Irishman should improve that number going into next season which could see them move from their 10th place finish to 7th or more?

While some would say the fee agreed is not nearly enough for a player of the caliber of Kelleher, you also have to remember the Reds were not in a hugely strong negotiating position.
It was clear the player wanted to leave, was entering the final year of his contract and Liverpool have their presumed new No. 2 arriving in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Memorable Moments
Kelleher still will leave a lasting legacy at Anfield. He was crucial in the club's run to the 2022 and 2024 League Cup successes among other great outings.
The 2022 EFL Cup final against Chelsea where he kept them in the match before he scored what would be the winning penalty in the shootout. Or, the herculean effort in the 2024 final, once again versus Chelsea, as he was brilliant in helping "Klopp's Kids" secure the trophy.
He wasn't just a domestic cup ace, as he proved this season more than most. We will all remember his penalty save from Kylian Mbappe in Liverpool's win over Real Madrid in the Champions League this season.

Those moments of sheer class showed the world what we already knew, he was ready for a top spot somewhere.
This move was bound to happen sooner than later and the club obliged a player that has been more than professional and patient sitting behind the world's best.
Brentford will be a better club when he puts pen to paper, and the Reds a little lighter. However, with his future cleared, Liverpool have more funds to attack the summer window while Kelleher can focus on proving what we already know.
£18 million is the fee Liverpool will receive. But, the youngster that joined the Reds' academy in 2015 has blossomed and grown up in front of us. His evolution and bright moments in Red are priceless.
