Liverpool just rounded off their first half against Bournemouth, and they headed into the famous Anfield tunnel at a 1-0, courtesy of great composure from Premier League debutant Hugo Ekitike in the opposing box. His celebration was a great touch, paying tribute to Diogo Jota.
Of course, there were plenty of bright sparks in the first half. Hugo Ekitike was exceptional all over the shop, and Alexis Mac Allister stood out as a tooper in midfield too.
However, not every player started as quickly as they could have. If they did, then Liverpool might even be in a stronger lead by now.
Liverpool fans notice Ibrahima Konate's poor Bournemouth display
An overarching theme in the first half was how Liverpool invited more pressure from the Bournemouth attackers than they needed to. Liverpool didn't concede, but they gave Bournemouth way too many opportunities to exploit defensive mistakes.
Ibrahima Konate did not look great in the first half. The Liverpool defender, who had an excellent season last time out, is looking rather rusty, and he needs to snap into gear before Bournemouth figure him out.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, spotted Konate's frailties and said that the defender needed to "wake up."
At times, unfortunately, it did feel like Konate was sleeping. He was slow to balls over the top and allowed the ball to bounce, which ignores rule number one of being a center back.
It wasn't just Carragher who noticed Konate sticking out like a sore thumb. Indeed, fans on social media pointed out the weak link in Liverpool's defense.
One Liverpool fan said: "Konate is not on it at all."
Another Liverpool fan, not sugarcoating their words nearly half as much, said: "Konate is dropping an all time stinker so far."
Look, rustiness is to be expected, even at this level. These players have had a long break from the Premier League, and Konate wasn't the only player who'll head into the dressing room with his head facing the floor.
However, it's the reaction to those mistakes which will define Konate's performance. Yes, he had a woeful first half, but he can still make a great game out of this if he sticks his body on the line and executes more assured plays in the second half.
If the scoreline stays as it is, nobody will talk about Konate's bad performance. But either way, he'll want to put a stronger foot out in the next 45.
