Joe Gomez made a great career for himself, but Liverpool fans can't help but feel like it could've been better.
Joining Liverpool in 2015, Joe Gomez has completed a decade of service at Anfield Stadium. In that time, the center back has achieved some incredible things, winning the Champions League once and the Premier League twice.
Despite winning so many honors at Liverpool, it's fair to say that Gomez isn't recognized for his individual contributions as much as he could have been. The England international has made under 150 Premier League appearances for the Reds which, considering his 10 years at the club, is a vastly underwhelming number.
It's no secret that Joe Gomez has missed too much action through injury. In fact, that's his biggest downfall and Liverpool fans' biggest frustrations.
At the time, Liverpool didn't know they were signing an injury-prone player but the more time that elapsed, the more Liverpool came to this frustrating realization.
Liverpool is at a crossroads with Joe Gomez
Fast forward to 2025, and after a decade at Anfield Stadium, Joe Gomez has missed around 275 games through injury. This is a substantial number of games missed, and it means he's been injured for more games than he's played.
So, where do Liverpool go next? Well, the options aren't exactly screaming at Liverpool in the face.
It's believed that Liverpool is open to selling Joe Gomez for the right price. However, a club willing to sign Joe Gomez for that price (around the £25m mark) seems unrealistic.
You might think that £25m for a player of Gomez's quality is an absolute steal, and you'd be right. However, with that comes the added baggage of Gomez sitting on the treatment table. It's a major frustration, and one that understandably puts clubs off from signing him.
So, Liverpool mustn't be in a rush to sell Gomez. If they are, then they should probably consider being flexible with their asking price.
Otherwise, the Reds aren't exactly losing much by keeping him in the squad. When he's fit, he's an outstanding defender... So we can all cross our fingers that his fitness levels improve this season.
