Liverpool players have been shining on international duty
By Jack Davies
A major contender for player of the break had to be Liverpool's own Curtis Jones. The midfielder topped off his full England Debut with an audacious flick, to open his account for his country.
That was followed by an impressive performance in the victory over Ireland, which secured promotion for England in the UEFA Nation's League.
Reds scoring all over the map
Also among the goal scorers was Andy Robertson. The left-back may not be having his finest season, but his dramatic stoppage time header sent the travelling Scottish fans wild in Poland and could be just what the defender needed to kick on upon return to Liverpool.
It was the Scot's first goal in the blue of his country for just over four years.
Elsewhere for the home nations, Conor Bradley headed home in Northern Ireland's draw away to Luxembourg. Incredibly, it's the twenty-one year old's fourth goal in just twenty-three caps - not bad for a full back!
He also picked up a clean sheet in their home win over Belarus, which helped secure a promotion of their own.
Dominik Szoboszlai is another who hasn't fulfilled his potential so far this season, but he is undoubtedly his countries shining star.
Despite a difficult opening defeat to the Netherlands, the twenty-four year old was awarded a penalty in stoppage time against Germany and he stepped up to notch his fifteenth goal for his beloved Hungary.
The last Red in the goals was the in-form Cody Gakpo. His penalty secured his fourteenth goal for his country, following on from his incredible displays in the European Championships last summer.
Dutch teammate Ryan Gravenberch also featured in both Holland games as they picked up four points to finish second in their group. Virgil van Dijk captained the Dutch in the opening win, picking up a clean sheet before returning home early to rest.
Liverpool send important players all across the globe
Caoimhin Kelleher's stellar performances as Liverpool's number two have not gone unnoticed at international level.
The Irish stopper seems to have officially climbed to the top of the mountain for his country, becoming a regular starter this season.
He may have been on the receiving end of a difficult night at Wembley but Kelleher earned a clean sheet in their victory over Finland, in which he saved a late Finnish penalty.
Ibrahima Konate keeps some very talented French defenders out of the team and the big man backed up his solid performances at club level, with a solid pair for France.
A clean sheet may have been the only positive in an indifferent draw against Israel but Konate was a rock at the back during a great win away in Italy. Kostas Tsimikas was the last of our European contingent to play, earning victory away in Finland after initial defeat to England.
Other players in action included South American trio; Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez. The latter will come back the happiest as his Uruguay side picked up four points, including a draw with Brazil.
Wataru Endo had two tricky looking away trips with Japan, but came away with very important personal minutes and two solid victories.
