After winning all four of their previous matches, Liverpool look to finish off pre-season in style as they face Durham Women at the BrewDog Stadium.
While the visitors reside in WSL 2, narrowly escaping relegation last season, the Reds left it late to secure a win in their last encounter. Sam Kerr lashed home with four minutes left on the clock in a 2-1 League Cup victory last time the two teams met in 2025. Gareth Taylor will be hoping for a convincing win, this time out.

Liverpool (Home): While one can only take so much into account from what they see in pre-season, what Liverpool have shown has been positive. Under Gareth Taylor, the Reds have won all of their pre-season matches thus far, defeating Sheffield United, Leicester City and Birmingham City. The most pleasing performance, though, came in a 2-1 away win over Manchester United in their previous outing.
The aim for the Reds will be to go into the new WSL season flawless, as they look to draw a line under the wrongs of last campaign. Not mustering a first league win until the new year is a nightmare players and fans alike will want to forget.
Playing at home for the first time this pre-season gives fans the opportunity to welcome new signings Vivien Endemann, Sara Agrez, Marui Ward, Khiara Keating and Mao Itamura, as the club looks to bolster their squad ahead of an expanded WSL season.
Durham Women (Away): Like Liverpool, Durham also had a season to forget last term. Not only did the team narrowly survive relegation from the division, but they also almost folded after on 8th June the club released a statement warning that they would have to “cease operations” if they could not find fresh investment within 21 days.
Fortunately, they were saved, but the scars of no longer being an ever-present in the division remain.
For the Wildcats, new manager Willie Kirk will aim to fine-tune his philosophy against high-calibre opposition. Having taken over from interim boss Neil Redfearn, Kirk will look to embed his tactical identity quickly as the team prepares for a demanding campaign ahead.
