As Janurary wears on, will the Reds make a move?
There has not been much activity in the transfer market thus far for Liverpool. With the month nearly half over, we take a look at what moves could still be made and examine which rumors are worth following.
Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle United)
The Newcastle midfielder has been a central piece in their turnaround into a viable side. However, as things have stalled at St. James Park, the speculation about players moving on is growing.
The Brazilian could be had at a bargain cost of £32 million if all things fall into place. That would prove to be an absolute steal of signing for any club. Still don't see it happening this month, but you never know.
Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
This continues to be a hot spot for transfer debate. Once thought to be a lock for Real Madrid, Mbappe has been able to explore around and see if anything else comes to fruition.
While he has a personal affection for Liverpool, that will in no way help the club pay the massive wages that will be needed to bring him in.
This is still an outside chance at best, but the longer it goes on, it remains firmly on the board of possibilities.
Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)
At 23-years old and already playing at an elite level, Frimpong is the ideal transfer target for FSG and Liverpool.
However, the problem comes in that Leverkusen are in superb form this season under Xabi Alonso and Frimpong has been a major part of that. It would take a massive investment to get the deal across the line.
With Conor Bradley stepping up behind Trent Alexander-Arnold, it might not be the right move currently.
Thiago (Liverpool)
The silky Spaniard has not played a single minute for Liverpool this season, the final on his contract, amid a injury crisis.
It has come out that him departing this month is unlikely and he will see out the remainder of his contract before departing as a free agent in the summer.
It would prove to be an anticlimactic end to his tenure at Anfield, so let's hope we see him on the pitch a few more times before May.
