2. Standstill talks for Liverpool with Alexander-Arnold, Salah and van Dijk

It's no secret that the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk are up next summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked to Real Madrid for about a year now, while Mo Salah remains a possible target for the Saudi Pro League. Virgil van Dijk is the only player not to have strong links to a potential summer exit, but for the time being, he is set to become a free agent in less than nine months.

Paul Joyce of The Times is reporting some nervy news that talks with all three players have reached an "impasse" despite there being reports that talks with each player were expected to ramp up over these next few months.

It should be noted that come January 1st, 2025, clubs are free to sign pre-contract agreements with pending free agents.
