Plenty of transfer news has popped up over the international break for Liverpool.
Despite being out of the transfer window, transfer news is still swirling around regarding multiple Liverpool players. One of the biggest discussions over the course of this season for Liverpool will be about the expiring contracts of four key players. On top of that, Liverpool still has to make a decision on multiple players' futures at the club.
Liverpool Transfer News: Mo Salah's contract, Tchouameni and Kelleher wanting out
Mo Salah contract talks with Liverpool expected to start soon
Mo Salah's start to the season has been phenomenal, to say the least. The Egyptian winger looks as good as he ever has for Liverpool, but there is still a big question looming over the forward: Will he sign a new contract?
Salah's contract expires next summer and it is always a bit nervy when a player's contract gets down this far. However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that talks between Mo Salah, his agent Ramy Abbas and Liverpool are expected to happen soon regarding a new contract.
Given his age, it seems unlikely Salah would sign a new long-term deal with Liverpool, but getting discussions underway in the coming weeks could help Liverpool greatly in its efforts to keep Salah at Anfield beyond this season.
Aurelien Tchouameni unlikely to be sold next summer
Liverpool not adding a new defensive midfielder this summer came under plenty of scrutiny to begin the season. However, Ryan Gravenberch's role as a number six has begun to calm some of those nerves. Nonetheless, it feels it would be in the club's best interest to pursue a true holding midfielder next summer if viable.
Among the names suggested is Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni. The French midfielder formerly was a top target for Liverpool when he was still with Monaco but ultimately moved to Spain in 2022.
The possibility of Tchouameni ever arriving as a new signing for Liverpool can be crossed off the list. Fabrizio Romano states the chances are "at zero" and that Real Madrid's hierarchy is in love with the player. Any move next summer is not a discussion.
Caoimhin Kelleher claims he wanted out this summer but Liverpool rejected bids
Caoimhin Kelleher leaving for greener (personal) pastures has been a topic for two summers, arguably three running now. Still, the Republic of Ireland international remains at the club where he will be given the odd cup game here or there and maybe a Champions League match against one of the Reds' easier opponents.
In a recent interview with Irish broadcaster RTE after the Republic of Ireland's clash with England, Kelleher clarified his feelings about his future at Liverpool.
"My ambition has always been clear and has been clear the last few seasons that I want to go be a number one and play week in week out... sometimes from outside it looks like it's 100% my decision but at times it's not always in my hands. "Caoimhin Kelleher
During the interview, Kelleher confirmed Liverpool rejected bids for him in the summer. With Mamardashvili signed for 2025, Kelleher will almost certainly be moved next year. For now, though, he will remain Liverpool's backup until at least January.
