Three Liverpool Players To Watch During Preseason Tour Across Asia

The Reds will ramp up their preseason work as they travel to Asia for a 10-day tour that will see several players put in the crosshairs.

As Liverpool prepares to depart for Hong Kong and their 10-day tour of Asia this coming Sunday, the trip to the Far East will provide several different players an opportunity to showcase just what they have to offer.

Matches against AC Milan and Yokohama F Marinos will provide two very different levels of opposition, but the expectations will be the same across the board.

With that in mind, let's take a look at three Liverpool players you should be watching during the upcoming Asian tour.

Milos Kerkez

The Hungarian fullback made a second half appearance in the win over Preston North End where he showed flashes of the top-class player we have seen at Bournemouth.

However, now getting 10 days to really dive into training under Arne Slot and working with his teammates should allow Kerkez to really settle in and get a true taste for being a Red.

As of now, there is no clear cut decision of who will be the starting left-back on Day 1 of the new campaign as Kerkez and the incumbent Andy Robertson will both be eager to leave their marks during this preseason tour.

I would not be surprised if they each got one start while in Asia and a decent run of minutes to try and leave any kind of stamp on proceedings.

The Hungarian will be eager to get forward and show his attacking chops, but he must also show Slot he is capable of securing the left side of defense.

Florian Wirtz

The German international is the marquee signing of this window so far for Liverpool. He did not take part in the Preston match but he will surely feature for the first time in the coming week or so.

All eyes will be on him as his record setting price tag means there will be a rather large spotlight on him every single time he suits up for Liverpool.

His creative flair will be a fun watch and it will be important for him to try and create some early chemistry with the attackers like Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and more. These will also be valuable minutes to test his fitness and get him back in shape as well.

A second key to watch is where Slot places him on the pitch. Will it be in the pure No. 10 role? A hybrid forward spot or wider? These matches and days together will be important to figure it out.

While this tour of Asia is a big deal, it will not be the end-all-be-all for Wirtz or any player for that matter. He must use this time together to accelerate his transition and begin laying the foundation for his time here.

I expect him to hit the ground running on this tour.

Wataru Endo

We'll move away from the new arrivals for this one and put the spotlight on a player that will be returning home for one of the matches while in Asia when Liverpool travel to Japan.

He should receive a heroes welcome from the fans as a newly crowned Premier League champion with Liverpool.

However, with that said, Endo will have plenty of work to do while there as he is still focused on being an integral part of Arne Slot's plans this coming season.

His game, while not flashy and loud, is something that this team needs. The steel he brings to the midfield is an important factor in closing out tough matches and he will want to kick his preseason off strong in front of friendly eyes.

If anything were to happen to Ryan Gravenberch or Alexis Mac Allister, it would likely be Endo tasked with shouldering a bigger load so he will be aiming to stay as sharp and ready as he can be.

Look for at least one or two snappy tackles from the Japan captain, even if these are friendly matches, he only knows one way to play and we love him for it.
