Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that there is a verbal agreement in place between Liverpool and Al Hilal for the sale of Darwin Núñez. Now, it is up to Darwin.

Liverpool has strengthened heavily in the summer transfer window. It was a long time coming, but the Reds finally managed to locate the necessary players, and use their years of saved-up money to execute their transfer plans.

Of course, key departures made these moves necessary for Liverpool. Despite the squad looking revamped already, the business is not yet completed. There might be at least one more key player leaving in the coming weeks.

Liverpool agree to sell Darwin Núñez

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, there is a verbal agreement in place between Liverpool and Al Hilal for the sale of Darwin Núñez. The Uruguay striker is now in talks with the Saudi Pro League side, and it's believed that Simone Inzaghi is personally keen to bring him on board.

In his own words, Romano said: "Al Hilal are close to getting Darwin Nunez deal done after verbal agreement in place with Liverpool. Club-to-club agreement is done, while Al Hilal are in talks with Darwin over personal terms. Decision up to Nunez, but talks are underway, Inzaghi wants him."

Liverpool is linked with a big-money move for a starting striker, namely Alexander Isak. So, it'll be interesting to see how this transfer rumor impacts Darwin's decision.

Now is the right time for Darwin Núñez to leave

Nobody can fault Darwin Núñez's output at Liverpool. While he didn't live up to the standard he probably could have, he was nowhere near as bad as rival fans made out. If anything, Liverpool would be quite satisfied with how Núñez performed at Anfield.

But that's where the issue lies, and likely the reason why Liverpool is open to selling Núñez. For a club with the ambition of Liverpool, players need to exceed expectations, not make the club 'satisfied.'

Therefore, now is the right time time for Núñez to part ways. He's conquered European football, winning the Premier League and starring in the Champions League. Next up, the Liverpool number 9 could play in Asia for the first time.

This would mark three different continents that Darwin has played in - Starting his career in South America, spending the bulk in Europe, and then moving to Asia.

It must be said that Darwin Núñez is only 26. So, he may feel like he could still achieve more before taking on the Saudi Pro League project.
