A report has been released with details of the disciplinary record of Premier League fans, and it doesn’t make pleasant reading for Liverpool

A report containing the number of banning orders against football fans in the UK has been released, and it would appear that Liverpool fans had a very poor record last season. The report consists of the number of banning orders given out between  4 September 2014 and 8 September 2015.

Liverpool fans are widely regarded as the best and loudest fans in world football, and deservedly so. European nights in Anfield are the stuff of legend, even rival fans and players talk about the atmosphere generated by the KOP during home games.

However a report by the Mirror doesn’t make pleasant reading for the Anfield faithful, as they sit in second spot for banning orders during the year. Out of all the Premier League teams, only Burnley fans recieved more banning orders and considering they were relegated to the championship last season, Liverpool fans technically have the worst record in the Premier League.

The entire list of Premier League banning orders (September 2014- September 2015) is as follows:

Arsenal: 8

Aston Villa: 11

Burnley: 26

Chelsea: 12

Crystal Palace: 0

Everton: 5

Hull City: 3

Leicester City: 3

Liverpool: 23

Manchester City: 3

Manchester United: 11

Newcastle United: 13

Queens Park Rangers: 7

Southampton: 1

Stoke City: 4

Sunderland: 8

Swansea City: 4

Tottenham Hotspur: 7

West Bromwich Albion: 4

West Ham United: 13

Not great news for Liverpool fans, all in all a pretty miserable year for discipline by our supporters. However, in the overall standings for banning orders we are 5th. (Still not great, but at least it’s not 1st). The overall standings for Premier League teams with banning orders are as followed:

1- Newcastle (132)

2- Chelsea (79)

3- West Ham (67)

It has to be said that these are just a tiny % of fans that give the rest a bad name. 99% of fans go to matches, enjoy the game and the banter with rival fans without taking it too far. Liverpool fans have a global reputation for all the right reasons, so let’s not allow a minority ruin the legacy of our great club.
