Match Recap: Liverpool Can’t Figure Out How to Beat Bournemouth
By Paul Drake
Second Half: Liverpool Need Fewer Mistakes and More Creativity
Liverpool continue to pitch their tents on the Bournemouth half of the pitch. Break the down boys! CLYNE!!! He has two decent chances in early in the first half, one off the bar.
Then in the 59th minute, Origi with a beautiful header gives Liverpool 2-1 lead over the Cherries This is exactly what the Reds need. Come out grab an early lead, hold that lead, and hopefully strike once more to give them some cushion. Wijnaldum redeems himself with solid footwork and cross to set up the Origi goal.
In minute 65, Coutinho comes off for Joel Matip. Likely a pure defensive move for Klopp. That December defeat at Vitality Stadium is probably stuck in his mind. The Reds can’t afford to drop points and lose this match.
Bournemouth try to create some chances but still can’t put anything together. The Reds are beginning to sit back and are lowering the intensity. Klopp seems to be taking a defensive mind-set to try and close out this victory.
Also, Jack Wilshere is annoying. The end.
The Cherries are attempting a come-back now, Eddie Howe is encouraging his players to play forward. In the 80th minute, Bournemouth press and almost get a chance. Firmino gave up the ball.

At this point Liverpool are playing sloppy and soft. The Cherries do not seem to be laying down, they are fighting until the very end. Then, a lot of activity in the Liverpool box by the Cherries. The Kop is on the edge of their seats, can Liverpool hold on?
Well, nope they can’t. Joshua King sends on into the back of the net…. The Cherries are now equal with the Reds 2-2. We have seen this time and time again, Liverpool lack and effective defense, no matter who is in the back-line.
Ha! Klopp is not happy (shakes his head). The Coutinho for Matip substitution is coming back to bit Klopp, the Reds could really use Coutinho’s magic right about now.
Liverpool attempt a last minute comeback with some intense pressure. Klavan heads a fantastic ball but Boruc, the Bournemouth keeper, is right there to save it.
Full time, Liverpool can not pull ahead and settle for one point.
This should have been a victory by the Reds but another winnable game and another failed effort. Players and fans must continue to trust Klopp, but with the loss of Sadio Mane, it will be a difficult end of the season. In the end Liverpool and not pull ahead and settle for one point.
