Liverpool’s unsuccessful and trophyless season was met with only one goal achieved. Reaching the top four and getting back to where we belong, the Champions League.

LFC’s season was filled with difficult times and some amazing moments! What I do believe, the amazing moments outweighed the dark hours and we have a huge sense of confidence going into next season.

Klopp and his men set out a goal for silverware this season past. That and having to better our counterparts around the EPL table was the asking from the men in Red.

Liverpool failed tremendously over a course of a month and a half maybe. The squad’s frailties were exposed in a series of games, where many could pinpoint each problem with a naked eye. Basically displaying the Liverpool of old.

No answer to the teams sitting in the bottom half of the table, who sat back and soaked up the pressure. Adding to what we proclaim as the derailing month of our entire season.

The rest of the team struggled without the likes of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, and the rest of the first choice players. A weakness as transparent as LFC’s reluctance to sign any new players during the January transfer window.

Our problem was ironic as ever. Thinning the entire first team to accommodate no European football. This ultimately became the reason for our demise.

Liverpool went from being a club with too many first team players, possessing little quality. To a team with little personnel, unable to withstand the gruelling demands of all the football to be played.

At the end of the day, we had to start somewhere. It was a learning kerb for most, if not all. A lesson most certainly the manager himself has submitted to in defeat. Therefore, all of us can stand behind the manager and accept the same fate.

When the light is dark, all is not lost:

Yes, we only achieved one particular goal in our journey for glory. Not bringing home silverware as our rivals did, was more than a disappointment.

But, more than a handful of things during the season can make us extremely excited for the new season to come.

The new stand at Anfield, what a joy it was to hear the anthem and see it named after such a monumental figure, Kenny Dalglish.

This was by far one of the best things to happen this year, as it goes down in Liverpool’s history, where a true Red like King Kenny. Is the first player/manager to have a stand named after him at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s outstanding record of being unbeaten was final broken, but in return, he maintained his flawless, 100% win rate in the Merseyside Derby.

Philippe Coutinho became the highest scoring Brazilian in the Premier League’s history. Something I can say went hand-in-hand with the fourth place finish.

This, together with his contract extension, is one of the reasons LFC had a far more successful season than most think. Keeping our star players is by far the hardest thing, considering we have not been in top-flight football for some time now.

Then there was the Emre Can stunner which claimed the goal of the season. There were many spectacular goals throughout the campaign but there was nothing like this one.

Outstanding times ahead for Klopp and his men in red. We had a great team last term, let’s hope we have better luck with injuries and transfers.
