Our traveling fan Rahul Tanna gives his match report from Vicarage Road on a disappointing day for the Reds versus Watford.

What a crazy game. Being in the away end yesterday, I must have felt hundred different things in ninety minutes. Liverpool never make it easy.

After an impressive preseason campaign, Jürgen Klopp started Moreno as left back, with Salah, Mané and Firmino leading the attack for Liverpool. It took less than ten minutes for the home side to take the lead, Liverpool fell behind from a set-piece with Stefano Okaka scoring from a header.

Thirty minutes into the game Liverpool found a way past Watford’s defense. Mané scoring Liverpool’s first goal of the Premier League Campaign from a clever pass delivered by Moreno.

We found ourselves down again two minutes later, Doucouré scoring the goal to put Watford in the lead. The groans in the away were as loud at the Watford cheers; shocking defending.

Liverpool started the second half much stronger, and looked more promising as they carried on attacking looking for that important equalizer. In the 55th minute, Salah won a penalty in the box as he was brought down by Watford keeper Gomes. Firmino stepped up, and brought the score line back to 2-2.

It wasn’t long till Liverpool finally took the lead, a long ball from Lovern, to Firmino who chipped the keeper, with Salah tapping it in. The traveling fans were going mental celebrating, Salah had scored on his Premier League debut. Watford 2 Liverpool 3 – still half an hour left to play.

A Bitter Blow

Liverpool were looking strong on the ball, and kept pushing for another goal. With 5 minutes of added time, it looked like the Reds were returning home with all three points. With one minute left to play, Britos managed to find an equalizer which ended the game 3-3. The way Liverpool had played in the second half, it was truly disappointing. Seeing the Reds lose the two points was heart wrenching.

The transfer window is still open, and a lot needs improving for Liverpool. If we want to be successful in Europe, we need to fix our defense. The club also need to improve to how to deal with set-pieces, extra training needs to be done.

We are off to Hoffenheim this week. Another fixture away from home but in the Champions League Play Off first leg. A huge game for the Reds.
