A muted deadline day for Liverpool has only seen players leave with Sakho heading to Palace and Kent & Origi heading to Germany on loan.

The excitement of the last few days has not carried over into deadline day. The euphoria of sealing the transfer of Naby Keita on Tuesday and the positive step of adding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain yesterday is all the Reds can take comfort from.

As of writing, there has not been, or looks to be, any new signings for Liverpool today. There were however a number of outgoings.

Liverpool finally sealed the transfer of Mamadou Sakho to Crystal Palace for a fee of £26million. The ostracized center back has been out of Klopp’s plans for over year. Liverpool will be glad to finally have him gone. The fee is a good figure for a player who everyone knows you don’t want anymore.

Elsewhere, Divock Origi went out on loan to Wolfsburg in a deal very favorable to the Reds. The German side are paying a £6 million fee to take him and are paying all of his wages. The real plus for Liverpool is that there is a recall clause. That means they can bring him back in January if they need to.

The club also decided to send Ryan Kent out on loan to SC Freiburg of the Bundesliga. The young English winger had a string preseason and many though he would be kept around this season. It appears the addition of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a loan possible.

Liverpool fans had been hoping for some better news today. There is great disappointment over the failure to sign Virgil van Dijk, or any center half, in the window. They also missed out on Thomas Lemar though there are conflicting reports of how willing Monaco ever were to trading their playmaker.
