No.2: Fresher Legs

Liverpool will go into this big Premier League fixture with fresher legs. They played their FA Cup game on Friday night against Everton while City played Burnley on Saturday.  That extra day at this time of year is crucial.

Jurgen Klopp took advantage of the nine-day break to take the squad to Dubai. It served a dual purpose of a warm weather bonding trip and removed the squad from the distraction of Coutinho’s departure.

While Pep Guardiola made changes to his back four and keeper he also started Fernandinho, David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane in their FA Cup win.

While Klopp played his strongest side against Everton he has been rotating heavily throughout December. Guardiola has not. At times the Spaniard has been criticized for overplaying his stars.

January and February is when the benefits of regular rotation usually come to bear fruit. Let’s hope that the fresher legs of Liverpool give them the edge this weekend.
