Nottingham Forest youngster Ben Brereton and West Ham attacker Manual Lanzini have been liked with transfers to Liverpool.

The 18-year-old impressed with his performance against Arsenal and subsequently the Liverpool Echo have written about the Reds interest in bringing the player to Anfield.

Brereton has only scored twice this season from 17 appearances for Forest, but despite these returns Melwood chiefs are keen. He’s already played 36 times for the club and is clearly earmarked for big things at the City Ground.

There are loads of clubs interested in signing Brereton, said the newspaper, and Liverpool will have to fight off interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Sky Bet have Spurs are favourites for his signature at 12/1, with Mersey rivals the Toffies and the Reds both on 20/1.

While Brereton will be a long-term signing, Lanzini would be one to immediately plug a gap in Klopp’s squad.

The Daily Star have reported that the Argentine is wanted to replace new Barcelona man Philippe Coutinho – a thought that many Reds fans will probably dread.

For once, the Star have probably got their facts right. Sky Bet have Liverpool are 11/10 favourites to sign the Hammers man – while Tottenham lurking behind at 18/1.

The 24-year-old has scored just one goal all season, but has got five Premier League assists this term from 14 starts.

Lanzini had his best campaign during 2016/2017, in which he scored eight times and created two goals from 35 appearances.

West Ham only signed him for £9.4 million, but the Express reckon he’s worth a jaw-dropping £40 million. Surely there will be open mutiny from fans if the club spend that much on the playmaker!
