Liverpool take on Swansea City in the Premier League and will look to keep their form going after a stunning victory against Manchester City.

The Swans are languishing in the relegation zone and haven’t been in great form of late, but the Reds will still have to take them seriously.

Defender Virgil van Dijk should be back in the side, which will strengthen the defence and the whole team.

There will be extra competition for places as midfielder Jordan Henderson has now resumed full training following a hamstring injury that he picked up against Arsenal in December – reported Liverpoolfc.com.

Playing on Monday gives the team more than a week off after their gut-busting performance against City. Andy Robertson will definitely be one who is pleased after he ran his socks off last weekend.

With only four wins all season, the Welsh outfit will know they are up against it when Liverpool come to town.

LIVERPOOL FC NOTES

With an undefeated streak that stretches back 14 games in the league, does anyone really think Swansea will be able to win this one?

There is no Philippe Coutinho, but players have stepped up to fill his boots and there are now key players in excellent form all around the pitch.

Henderson coming back to full fitness will add another string to Jurgen Klopp’s bow, but the current midfield three of Georginio Wijnaldum, Emre Can and Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hard to drop given their recent performances.

KEY MATCH STATISTICS

  • There have been over two-and-a-half goals scored in Liverpool’s last seven away games – and the Reds have scored at least twice in their last six away games.
  • The Swans have let in 35 goals this season already, so expect plenty of fireworks from the terrific trio.
  • Swansea are normally boring at home and in five of their last six home games there have been fewer than two-and-a-half goals scored.
  • With only 14 goals scored all season, Liverpool should have little to worry about in terms of a threat on their net.

CONCLUSION

Last week people thought it would be a really though game. This week they expect the Reds to win easily, but that expectation can be a threat in itself. Swansea must be taken seriously.

A win here will put even more pressure on Manchester United, who are currently three points above Klopp’s team.

There have been loads of transfer rumours flying about Merseyside this January, but another convincing win here could prove that no more players need to be brought in.
