Liverpool are hosting West Brom this Saturday in the FA Cup fourth round. This is the Liverpool back four we want to see against West Brom.

Back to square one. The 18 game unbeaten run is over after Monday’s frustrating loss to Swansea in the Premier League. Now Liverpool need to start the next unbeaten run on Saturday. They are welcoming West Brom to Anfield in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to make the FA Cup more of a priority with a title challenge in the realm of fantasy after Manchester City’s incredible start to the season. The league ambitions are now simply making the top four.

Liverpool put out their strongest available side in the third round win against Everton. It is hard to know if such a side was chosen because it is a competition we are desperate to win or if it was because it was Everton.

There is some speculation about whether or not Klopp will experiment with a back three this season. The back three has come back into fashion since Chelsea began to use it last year and won the league easily.

We have used a back three only once this season – away to Brighton & Hove Albion. Illness to Ragnar Klavan & Joe Gomez and an injury to Joel Matip forced Klopp’s hand on that occasion. Now with the introduction of Virgil van Dijk into the first team I suspect that there will not be any experimentation with defensive formations for the remainder of the season.
