The player has been on trial with the Liverpool academy at Kirkby. After impressing in his week-long audition the Reds moved to secure an exciting young talent. The 18-year-old has made 12 first team appearances for Falkirk this season.
He has been capped by Scotland at Under-16 and Under-17 level and has professional football pedigree in his family; his nephew and cousin were both professional goalkeepers in Scotland.
While he is still of the age to jin up with Steven Gerrard’s Under-18 side he is thought to be coming in to develop at the under-23 level.
The news of his signing comes hot on the heels of the signing of another young left back; Colombian defender Anderson Arroyo. It may seem a little unusual to sign two young players for the same position but we will not see Arroyo for Liverpool any time soon. He will need to spend at least two years playing Europe before he can qualify for a work permit
Liverpool already have Gallacher’s countryman Andrew Robertson doing amazing work at the position. There has also been the encouraging resurgence of Alberto Moreno. The Reds could be stacked at the position for a long time to come.

Liverpool fans are hoping that the club will do more in this window than simply sign prospective left backs. Either a midfield addition or another attacker – preferably both – are needed after the sale of Philippe Coutinho.
