An agreement has been reached for Liverpool target Stefan de Vrij over a contract.
De Vrij had been targeted by the Reds and his deal was due to run out at the end of the summer, but a new deal between the Dutch international and his club Lazio should be announced soon.
Goal.com reported the news, which won’t came as much of a disappointment to the Anfield faithful due to the signing of Virgil van Dijk in January.
There is a delay in announcing the deal, however, due to the player’s agent – and the website wrote that a low release clause would be inserted into the contract.

The 26-year-old joined the Serie A side for just £6.3 million in July 2014 and has played 22 times in the league this season.
After making 156 appearances for Feyenoord, de Vrij has now played 81 times for Lazio as well as earning 33 international caps for the Netherlands.

De Vrij would have been an excellent signing to make on a free. He’s been a key part of the team wherever he has played and is well experienced at international level.
If there is a low release clause inserted into his new deal in Italy, there is no reason why Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp couldn’t try and sign him this summer.
That would be moving on one or two of Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan. Lovren seems to have undergone a mini revival, but has never looked mistake-free for the Reds and should be the most likely candidate of the three to be moved on.
De Vrij and van Dijk could make an excellent partnership at the back. They share a common language and would have played together at an international level.
