Jurgen Klopp made three changes to side that drew against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Dejan Lovren dropped to the bench after his poor showing with Joel Matip returning to start. The other two changes were in midfield with Gini Wijnaladum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replacing Jordan Henderson – who was rested for the Champions League game – and James Milner.
Another early goal for the Reds courtesy of the Mohamed Salah/Roberto Firmino combo. It was the Egyptian who played provider for Firmino to open the scoring. They traded roles later in the first half after Firmino’s cute pass set up Salah for his 29th goal of the season.
The ease of the second half allowed Klopp to give some good rest for Firmino and for him to take off Salah before the finish. The manager will be hoping they are on top form as Champions League football returns on Wednesday.
