Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard appears to confirm that Emre Can is indeed leaving the club in the summer. That is a blow for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
This is not a surprise but is disappointing nonetheless. As expected Emre Can is set to leave the club in the summer after Steven Gerrard confirmed his departure while being an analyst ahead of Liverpool’s game with FC Porto in the Champions league on Wednesday night.
There has been no official word from the club or the player to date. But Steven Gerrard is the Under-18’s manager and will have as much insight as anyone outside of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and the player himself.

Emre Can has been a mainstay of the Liverpool first team this season. Year-on-year he has grown into a more confident and influential player. It is a huge blow to the club to lose him at this stage of his career for no transfer fee.
Can is set to miss the first leg of the Champions League clash with Porto. A midfield of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum for that game proves how short we are of defensively minded midfielders.
