Liverpool put FC Porto to the sword last night with a 5-0 thrashing in the Champions League. Here are the best five moments from the famous victory.

Waking up the day after the Reds have destroyed an opponent is the best. The sun is brighter, the birds sing louder and everyone is greeted with a smile. Last night Liverpool took apart Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The scoreline will grab the attention of European football but it is perhaps even more impressive than it seems. Porto had not lost at home in 24 games but came undone to Liverpool in stunning fashion.

One of the most encouraging elements of the win was the sheer number of excellent performances from players in orange; the lucky kit once again proved to be a winner. Across the side there were displays of confidence, hard work and skill.

A list of potential man-of-the-match candidates would read: Virgil van Dijk, James Milner, Gini Wijnadum, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The other five players were pretty decent too.

It is gutting that Liverpool won’t have another game for 10 days. I’m sure Jurgen Klopp is happy to give his players plenty of time for recovery and coaching. There is, most likely, 14 games left of the season. Having a full complement of available players will give Liverpool the best shot at reaching their two remaining goal; win the Champions League and finish second.
