Right Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

There is now a genuine three-way competition for the right back berth. Nathaniel Clyne is getting nearer and nearer to his return to first team action. This game may come just a touch too soon but he will be involved sooner rather than later.

More from Rush The Kop

The realistic choice for Klopp for this weekend is between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez. It has been increasingly harder to predict who Klopp will choose for each game. As the manager begins to trust Alexander-Arnold more and more, the presumption that Gomez will take the most important games is becoming redundant.

This is highlighted by Alexander-Arnold’s inclusion against Porto. We were expecting Gomez to start in such a big game but the England international only made the bench. The manager was rewarded by a stellar display from Alexander-Arnold.

As Liverpool press for a home victory this weekend I think manager will once again go to his best attacking full back.
