There were three changes by Jurgen Klopp to the team that beat Porto 5-0 ten days ago. Joel Matip replaced Dejan Lovren despite his good performance in Europe. Captain Jordan Henderson moved to the bench with Emre Can able to start. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came in for Gini Wijnaldum who missed the game with illness.
Emre Can got the game going with a headed goal from a corner as Liverpool edged the first half. Mohamed Salah scoring earlier in the second swung all the momentum to the Reds. It was three-nil soon after with Roberto Firmino putting away from Can’s good work in midfield. An immediate West Ham reply caused some bums to shift on seats before Sadio Mane’s goal eased all tension from the game for the Liverpool victory.

Here are our Liverpool player ratings v West Ham:
Two very strong saves in the first half kept the game in Liverpools control. The first tipping Arnautovic’s shot on to the bar to keep it 0-0. The second preserved the lead after a decent dive. Antonio’s goal didn’t have a ton of pace on it and the keeper could have got down a fraction earlier.. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. LORIS KARIUS. 7
