Liverpool are hosting Newcastle this Saturday in a Premier League clash at Anfield. This is the Liverpool back four we want to see against the Geordies.

Liverpool need three points on Saturday. Their 24-hour stint in second place of the Premier League last week will be (at least) a 48-hour one this weekend as Manchester United don’t play until Monday evening.

If Chelsea lose to Manchester City on Sunday the Reds will also have a seven point cushion from fifth with a win against Newcastle. There is plenty of motivation. The comfortable 5-0 first leg victory against Porto means players thoughts and preparations will not be drifting to the Champions League. Manager Jurgen Klopp and his squad can face this fixture with focus and confidence.

The Reds, amazingly, will enter this game with a fully fit first team squad. That is a rarity in the modern game and almost unheard of in March. It is a testament to the medical staff at Melwood and the rotation employed by the manager.

It is why, in game 29 of the Premier League season, we still have to speculate who will start this weekend. Everyone still needs to see the team sheet appear an hour before kick off to know who will make up our back four this week.

Though Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson look to have cemented their places as first choice even they have been rested over the last two months. The other two positions have been in total flux. Having everyone fit means the manager can game plan for any given opponent. And we are having fun guessing who he will pick and why!
