After a famous European victory Liverpool are back to Premier League action against Bournemouth on Saturday. This is the back four we want against The Cherries.

Liverpool are one of the best four teams in Europe. That is not hyperbole but the fact of the matter now that we will line up in the Semi-Finals of the Champions League in a couple of weeks. Back where we belong. However our attention cannot linger only on Europe. There is still a job to be done in the Premier League.

Finishing in the top four has been the goal since Man City wrapped up the league before New Year’s Day. Liverpool are well placed to achieve that this season; they are in third, 10 points ahead of fifth place Chelsea.

The Reds only need nine points from their remaining five games. Actually they only need six points if three of them are against Chelsea in early May. Does that mean Jurgen Klopp can ease off this weekend against Bournemouth?

After last week’s derby performance against Everton, I certainly don’t think he can have a second-rate attack. The side looked toothless with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino missing from starting eleven. Neither Danny Ings or Dominic Solanke looked much of a threat. At least two of Salah, Firmino and Sadio Mane need to start to pick up three points.

However, the rotated defensive display of the Liverpool back four provided a clean sheet last weekend. If the manager can change things up anywhere – there are really very few options in midfield – then it is at the back.

Here is a rotated back four that we would like to against Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend.
