Liverpool are resisting attempts from Real Madrid to unsettle them before the Champions League final with their transfer moves for Mohamed Salah.

Stop it. Yeah, Real Madrid I’m looking at you. We’re not having it this week. The news from Spain that Real Madrid are desperately trying to make a play for the transfer of Mohamed Salah this summer should be of no surprise.

We are only 8 days away from the Champions League final in Kiev next week and our opponents are doing everything they can to rock the boat of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

More from Rush The Kop

It has been a magnificent debut season for the Egyptian King where he has scored 44 goals with 14 assists (he’ll finish with 46 and 16 though…). After such numbers it is inevitable that the biggest clubs in Europe would try to steal our Mo.

But the timing of these latest rumours – and the full support of the Madrid press – is only designed for one purpose; disrupt the Reds before the final.

The latest story has Salah valued at £175 million and a line of clubs interested alongside Real; Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Are you surprised that those clubs want to buy him? Of course not. But also there is nothing substantial in these rumours beyond want those clubs would do if it were possible. The good news for Reds everywhere is that it isn’t.

Perhaps you may look at Philippe Coutinho leaving as reason to believe a Salah sale could happen this year or next. But Coutinho never got a sniff of a Champions League final or a Ballon d’Or at Liverpool. Salah could be a European champion and a shoe-in for the best player in the world by the end of this month.

Klopp’s side are currently in Marbella, Spain preparing for the final. They are having some much-needed recovery time and fun before the serious business of training kicks for the game kicks in next week.
